2010. Oil on board, 8″ x 10″. Framed in Compound Mitered frame No. 16 CV—2” + C No. 16 CV — 7/8”, in quartersawn white oak (Dark Medieval Oak stain).
What makes this frame work is the two contrasting layers of distance in the painting—the foreground and distant hills—and the form of the frame echoing that. The carved chamfers harmonize both with the paint texture and the rough surface of the rocks and trees, and the 45 degree angle of the chamfer also suits those angular elements.
A very lovely painting!
