Toyohara Chikanobu (1838–1912), n.d. (19th century). Woodblock triptych, 23-1/2″ x 40-1/2″ outside dimensions. Framed in modified Yoshida in walnut with black wash.
Took our cue from the architecture in this set of prints, but kept it light and refined in keeping with the fine execution of the prints. The muted tones of the aged prints suggested a black wash on the walnut rather than a more intense, contrasting black.
